On set I’d use a lot of different music to set the tones so that the crew and the actors were in the same frame of mind.
When you play a song it’s a sort of universal language and no matter how hardened the key grip is that’s moving the dolly, if he hears a piece of music he knows what speed to move the dolly at, everything sort of gels into the same tempo and the same feeling.
Its hard to wait around for something you know might never happen; but its harder to give up when you know its everything you want.
